When Ashley Evans and Brendan Roche got a free trip to the island of Maui in early 2023, they were happy. However, the upcoming trip to the warm ocean was overshadowed by the fact that both spouses were significantly overweight. They understood that they were going to have a beach holiday in swimming costumes, but they were both self-conscious about their bodies. So together they decided to embark on a weight loss journey to feel comfortable on holiday.
Both Evans and Roche gained weight during the lockdown period due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. They spent almost all of their time at home, eating fast food and sleeping a lot during this period. At the time the couple found out about their upcoming trip, Evans weighed 118 kilograms and Roche weighed 102 kilograms. Evans was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
