Scientists have discovered the rarest dolphin with “fingers”

Scientists found and photographed in the Gulf of Corinth a strange dolphin with the likeness of fingers. About it writes Live Science.

Researchers from the Pelagos Institute for the study of cetaceans in the summer twice met the rarest dolphin off the coast of Greece. His fins had an unusual shape, which partly resembled a thumb. Despite its unusual appearance, the dolphin was part of a group of animals. Scientists saw it “swimming, jumping and playing” with other dolphins.

“This is the first time we have seen such amazing fin morphology in 30 years of research on the high seas,” scientist Alexandros Frantzis, who took the photos of the fins, told reporters.
