The video game debuted in 2009. It gained immense popularity around the world and soon became a cybersport discipline with championships in different countries. The steampunk action series Arcane: League of Legends, based on the game, became the first streaming series to win an Emmy Award in 2022, has been renewed for a second season, scheduled for release in November 2024.
